Flexiform’s relationship with Admiral has been ongoing for many years. When the Wales-based insurance company took the decision to commission two new buildings, one being the global HQ in Cardiff, a full furniture procurement exercise was undertaken. Flexiform secured the contract against some extremely tough competition fitting out 16 floors with a combination of Jot and Pico desking.

Part of the project revolved around the re­use of some of the existing furniture stock that Admiral had been using successfully for many years. Flexiform worked over two new sites in Newport and Cardiff, plus five existing sites, to combine this existing stock with new products.

To work within Admiral’s budget, Flexiform re­located and refurbished over 1,700 workstations, as well as providing over 2,500 new workstations, pedestals and storage cabinets. The large­ scale project involved a lot of varying furniture needs, from large bench configurations with Freestor Tambour storage at the end to PCWS media units. The storage ranged from shelving to coat hangers, which kept the workspace tidy, along with personal pedestals with each desk. Breakout furniture was installed, from casual corridor meeting spaces to staff breakout rooms, both large and small­ scale meeting rooms with chairs. Each floor had a different colour scheme.

Flexiform worked closely with the Admiral contract team, which was invaluable, and during the project major cost savings had been established, the entire project was delivered on time and to budget. The previous furniture, although still as functional as when it was installed, needed to be repainted to blend with the new installations. This proved to be an effective cost-saving measure and ensured as much furniture was recycled and reused as possible.

We also provided numerous other services, including design and space planning, and the refurbishing of old furniture. Within this project, Flexiform’s relocation teams moved Admiral’s furniture between several offices. Our relocation teams can accommodate anything, from a simple move across the corridor to a full­scale business relocation. We have dedicated teams at strategic points across the country to project manage moves, and can relocate organisations anywhere in the UK. When moving and installing furniture, we provided Admiral with several layout options per floor, with 3D visuals to give an idea of the space before committing. Flexiform has full CAD and space planning capabilities, with a team of designers based at all three of our main sites in London, Scotland and West Yorkshire.
