We are proud to complete the office design and fitout for Direct Commercial Limited (DCL) in Essex. DCL’s primary goal was to create a bright, modern and welcoming space that was conducive to their collaborative working style, balancing functionality, design and budget. Accommodating 150 staff over 3 floors, plus regular weekly visitors, DCL wanted to ensure the space didn’t feel cramped or too busy.
DCL selected Flexiform due to our collaborative approach to office fit-out, wanting a company that was proactive in providing solutions and able to provide expertise and guidance throughout the process, enabling the client to make informed decisions. Our attentive customer service and enthusiasm towards the project were a big deciding factor for DCL in selecting Flexiform to be their office designer and fitout provider.

DCL’s previous office faced acoustic challenges, with phone calls taking place in a busy open-plan claims environment. Their new space addresses this by incorporating more meeting rooms and smaller isolation rooms, allowing staff to take calls or complete qualifications in quieter, more focused settings. In the main working area, DCL aimed to reduce noise and create a sense of privacy without relying on clinical-looking desk dividers. We recommended our Aero fabric dividers, featuring a soft aerofoil edge and subtle, toned-down fabric colours. Paired with monitor arms and discreet cable management, this setup created clean, calm workspaces with just the right level of privacy.
To further support staff wellbeing, we installed generously sized Meira eco office desks and Do Better mesh-back task chairs, both chosen for their ergonomic support and sustainability credentials. Each desk includes a lockable personal pedestal for secure storage. To complete the layout, we introduced a bespoke communal recycling bin with integrated planter-top storage, removing the need for individual bins, encouraging recycling, and contributing to a healthier, more inviting workspace.
An office fitout can have a huge impact on the productivity, motivation and wellbeing of staff. We caught up with DCL to gauge feedback on their new offices, asking for their 3 top favourite impacts of the project. The client highlighted their new private meeting spaces and the knock-on effect on acoustics, introduction of biophilic design and a spacious layout as the top 3 successes.
