Last week Flexiform held two events simultaneously to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan Cancer Support has long been a charity close to the hearts of many of us here at Flexiform.
Five Volunteers took part in ‘Brave the Shave’ while our Customer Service Manager, Helen and Jane (a professional Hairdresser and sister of Richard Hodson our planning manager) bravely took the clippers to Liam, Ray, Kevin, Pete and Richard. The clippers were then followed by a wet shave boldly done by Natalie (Delivery & Installations Coordinator) and Nicola (Our newest member of the Customer Service team.) Whilst the guys ‘Braved the Shave’ the rest of us watched in awe as clippers, scissors and razors flew through the air and the hair mounted up on the floor.
Fortunately, this didn’t put the rest of us off watching in awe and enjoying the home made cakes and treats that other staff had made for ‘Macmillan’s Coffee Morning.’
Macmillan coffee morning is an annual event organised by the charity to raise awareness and encourage people to sit down and talk over a cuppa and a cake. The event started back in 1990 and was a rather small affair, guests would get together and donate the price of a coffee or tea to Macmillan cancer support, the event when down so well that it has continued every year since. Raising over 200 million pounds for the charity.
The total raised for Macmillan Cancer Support by Flexiform was an incredible £1,700 an amazing effort by all involved. The money raised goes towards employing more nurses and care workers to support cancer suffers, help create awareness of the charities work and provide local support groups for people living with cancer ensuring families get the best medical, practical and emotional support possible.
