Michael Laird Architects (MLA), a prestigious architectural practise with offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, selected Flexiform for their 4-floor Edinburgh hub refurbishment after we supplied a series of demonstration products to be tried and tested by their staff.
MLA designed the office interior using their own in-house design team, selecting Flexiform products to support their new workspace. Our Pico desks were installed throughout all floors in single, back-to-back and side-to-side configurations with black metal framework and contrasting white tops with black edging. We manufactured the desks to a special depth to provide the best use of available space in their ex-townhouse Georgian building.
Bespoke Office Desks
Bespoke solutions were also offered to the Director’s offices which incorporated storage for large drawings. Our engineering department adjusted our Pico bench desk to accommodate a structural column on the 3rd floor, enabling optimum use of space. Flexiform also offered a range of office storage with our Pedestals to match framework finishes, and Jot storage units to support the front of house staff. To complete the full IT set-up, we supplied monitor arms, electrics and CPU holders. In the basement, the IT teams had a Parq poseur height table and extensions for collaborations and ad-hoc meetings to work at a comfortable height.
In addition to the manufacture and installation of office furniture, we removed and environmentally recycled existing furniture prior to installing the new furniture which was conducted over a number of phases. This was a particular challenge due to the building having no lift and the previous desking ranges being very heavy and cumbersome.
