Flexiform are proud to collaborate with Michael Laird Architects (MLA) on this high specification office fitout in Scotland. Located in a prestigious building, this workspace was to accommodate up to 150 staff, with staff wellbeing and quality at the heart of the design.
Flexiform has worked directly with the client for over 15 years, establishing a great relationship and a vast range of services to help manage their offices. Having previously relocated to temporary premises, we worked with the client to develop a furniture audit, inventory system and storage, which was shared with MLA architects to aid the design process of the client’s new permanent offices. MLA utilised this information to indicate which furniture was due to be, re-upholstered/ refurbished, and relocated into the building.
Staff Wellbeing & Agile Working
To support staff’s health and wellbeing, the client switched their desking to all Jot-Up height-adjustable desks complete with Orangebox Do Better task chairs, allowing each staff member access to an ergonomic workstation. They re-distributed their existing Jot-Up desking, adding an extra 45 back-to-back desking configurations. These sit-stand desks offer electric adjustment with an easy-to-use switch and superior cable management.
To allow staff to move throughout the office, we relocated their existing Orangebox Camper and Dens meeting pods and Coppice modular work booths, plus their reupholstered Frem Oasis mobile meeting booths. Alongside new solo workchairs, lounge chairs, bespoke joinery, Luxo personal storage lockers and pockets of informal meeting spaces, the design supports staff to move around to suit their task, either working individually in a quiet and focused environment or collaboratively as a team.
Wow-Factor Meeting Rooms
A large selection of small meeting rooms and larger boardrooms was installed throughout the office with tremendous success. Featuring a wide selection of fixed and mobile tables complete with acoustics, elegant credenza storage, mobile meeting chairs and side upholstered bench seats for additional capacity. Each meeting room had design flair with unique ceilings, flooring and textures and a built-in media wall, providing a formal setting to host guests.
The range of meeting furniture was selected for its range of colour options, high-quality finish and features. Several boardroom tables featured hidden cable-managed legs and linoleum tops with fingerprint technology, offering a superior finish. The office chairs are available with painted frames in numerous colours, allowing greater flexibility to create a luxury hotel-inspired office design.
Café Culture
Defined by our Fauna freestanding office planters with ribbed design, the café space creates a welcoming and relaxed breakout and informal workspaces. The cafe is designed with a mixture of bistro tables, banquette seating and a mixture of café chairs, including a soft tub chair and retro-inspired tubular design. Complete with built-in open booths with monitors and charging, suitable for laptops and phones, creates an informal collaboration space. This multifunctional space works exceptionally well, bringing café culture into the office.
