Flexiform has collaborated with Form DC and CBRE to assist with the new offices within a modern, flexible, sustainable and efficient workspace that fits their client’s new office space.
Their client, a Sustainable Energy Company located in Edinburgh Park, Scotland, aims to decarbonise and provide sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy. As a pioneering company, they wished for contemporary offices that created a wow-factor, attracted new talent and enhanced employee wellbeing. They also wanted to support their hybrid working model and provided quiet, focused spaces for the tech engineers.
CBRE and Form DC worked with the client to design a contemporary office space featuring various meeting and collaboration areas tailored to their specific needs. Utilising their designs, our team worked to specify office furniture and material finishes that met the client’s needs and fitted in with their interior design goals.
The agile office design factored in future expansion, allowing for additional workspaces to be added later, and utilised the brand’s signature evergreen colour with warm wood, plants and murals to give a biophilic feel. Form’s design created a distinct visitor area and office space, and used bespoke timber slats to connect staff and define areas.
Smart Working Furniture
Alongside our Pico back-to-back modular desks and Jot-Up height-adjustable desks, the workspace featured a wide range of collaborative and meeting room furniture. This included tiered stepped seating for group sessions, formal meeting rooms, acoustic meeting booths, and telephone pods. A standout element was the unique Hoop mobile screen configuration, which combined pinnable boards, whiteboards, AV media units, and curved mobile acoustic panels to create a flexible, reconfigurable space for team meetings and idea generation. Collaboration was further supported by Additions laptop tables, movable benches, and seating that could be easily rearranged as needed. Our Larke collaborative work table, paired with Papillion mobile chairs, provided an additional informal meeting area ideal for team discussions or ad hoc working.
Due to the building’s exposed concrete soffit features, acoustic control was a key priority throughout the office. Solutions included acoustic wall panels in meeting rooms, suspended ceiling panels between desk clusters, and ceiling-mounted panels across open areas. Together, these measures enhanced collaboration by enabling informal conversations, group meetings, and video conferencing without disturbing surrounding staff.
Form DC‘s approach to workplace design, brings a deep understanding of how environments can empower people and organisations. Flexiform, with their extensive experience in bespoke furniture manufacturing, took that vision and translated it into tangible pieces. Among these was a pillar-base café bar table with an oval top in an aubergine tone, chosen to complement both the overhead light feature and contrast the overall colour scheme. The table was crafted from curved laminate with a plinth, creating a seamless finish flush with the floor.
Our standard Freestor Accent staff lockers were customised with bespoke vinyl numbering to align with the client’s brand guidelines and clad to blend seamlessly with the surrounding wall décor. In addition, we created a semi-circular table with wooden legs for a two-person video conferencing room. This piece was designed to match the tables in the other meeting rooms, ensuring a consistent aesthetic throughout.
The final result is a fantastic workspace that has impact, fosters collaboration and enhances the staff’s wellbeing and experience. We’re delighted to work with the client Form DC and CBRE on this project.
