As part of Flexiform’s continued partnership with Leeds City Council (LCC), Flexiform was tasked with the interior design, space planning, manufacture and installation of Leeds City Council’s newest building – Merrion House. The design included both staff office space and public spaces including atriums, private meeting rooms and quiet areas with a central hub unit for council services, creating agile working spaces.
Our in-house Interior Designer and Space Planner designed the installation with particular focus on the atrium and public spaces with modular soft seating, customer service desks, desking and informal meeting spaces. The products and fabric finishes selected are designed to withstand public use and create a wow factor.
“The phase 1 installation was even more complex than normal as it involved the relocation of existing furniture from another Leeds City Council building which had to be completely rebuilt with new worktops, screens, cable management and electrics being added. The phase 1 installation had to be completed within a very tight time critical time frame that had to be met to ensure there was no down time at Leeds Building Services which provide the repairs and maintenance services to all council houses and council buildings in Leeds. The installation team from Flexiform played a critical part and completed the installation working tirelessly to ensure the timescales were met thus ensuring service continuity. At the end of three long days I can honestly say that without Flexiform this would not have been possible. Phase 2 of the huge refurbishment of Leeds Buildings Services started immediately and we’re already looking forward to the installation team from Flexiform once again providing a 1st class installation service.” – Les Reed, Head of Service.

Furniture to Boost Staff Wellbeing
Staff wellbeing is a major factor for all LCC installations with a focus on our Jot-Up sit/stand desk system, along with acoustics, collaborative zones, staff facilities and breakout areas. For desking, our Jot-Up sit/stand desks were used at the end of Pico Back-to-Back Desks with extra high Fyn fabric screens for both privacy and acoustic properties, absorb distracting noise from the open plan offices. Jot-Up is ideal for agile working spaces, helping to promote a healthy, productive workplace which can have a multiple of benefits to your workforce including increased productivity and reduced staff absences.
Freestor Office Lockers specified in order to create areas for personal storage, allowing office space to be more freely used to encourage flexible working within the space. Metal lockers are used to help to maintain a clear desk policy, promoting free movement throughout the workspace, allowing staff to work in a variety of different areas around the office.
