Merseyside Police Headquarters Office Fit-Out

Flexiform completed the office furniture installation for Merseyside Police purpose built, new HQ in the North-West of England. Following on from our previous furniture project installations, we have undergone the design, manufacture and installation of their new headquarters featuring atrium spaces, canteens, boardrooms and meeting spaces, Chief and Managerial offices, plus open-plan offices. Spanning over 5 years from concept to design, the overall project installation covered the two buildings and 6 floors with approx. 850 desk workspaces, 20 meeting rooms and 3 large conference rooms.

This large-scale office furniture installation took place during the global Covid-19 pandemic, Flexiform went to great lengths to ensure all Government guidelines were followed throughout the project. References are available upon request, contact Flexiform for details.

Office Space Planning Service

Back in 2017, we undertook a storage survey across 6 existing sites to capture all the filing and storage that was to be accommodated into the new HQ building, ensuring nothing was missed. This information was used during all stages of the planning process with regards to the FF&E and floor plan layouts.

Flexiform’s space planning and office design service provided a vital role within the project, with our BIM ISO 19650 accredited space planning team producing a BIM collaboration model for the client and 3rd party teams, and attending coordination meetings with the client, architect and M&E teams. The shared Revit model ensured all teams involved were accessing the latest plan and model, helping coordinate building work and electrics, a huge asset to ensuring the project ran smoothly. From these plans, our design teams were able to produce a wide variety of static renders and walkthroughs for the client to visualise the space prior to sign off, order and installation.

Bespoke Office Furniture

Within the office, we provided a wide range of bespoke furniture from simple screen dividers, to uniquely shaped collaboration tables, desks and lockers. Our Pico side-to-side and back-to-back office desks were fitted with a range of screens including freestanding end-desk screens with bespoke signage and upholstered modesty panels for privacy. To complete the desk set-up, we also installed a range of desk chairs, desk-mounted screens, CPU holders and on-desk electrics. For nearby secure storage, a large range of Freestor tambour cabinets were installed including low desk dividing storage and bespoke archive-style storage with mobile cabinets running on a track allowing confidential storage within a compact footprint. The HQ locker room was also installed with a wide range of single and twin door kit lockers, L-Shaped cycle lockers and 8 door charging lockers, suitable for a wide range of personal storage & operational requirements. Within the Chief, Deputy Chief and Senior Management Team’s private offices, we created bespoke “L” shape Jot-Up electric sit/stand height adjustable desks with a bespoke extra-large wooden modesty panel and desk-height pedestals.

Office Installation Services

During the 6 months phased installation, we worked alongside construction firm Willmott Dixon and other contractors to complete the deliveries and installation as floors were finished. The staff were relocated into the two buildings in phases, primarily after the handover of the buildings to offer minimum disruption. During the installation, we attended weekly design team catch-up meetings whilst the building was under construction to ensure coordination between the contractors, architects, M&E engineers, the client, and the project management company. In response to these meetings, we were able to be flexible as the floor plans changed to accommodate additional departments at the last minute. This communication and flexibility helped contribute towards a fantastic and modern working environment for Merseyside Police and was delivered on time and in budget.
