Circular Economy
Flexiform is proud to have supported the Circular Economy Project between an existing client (confidential) and the Scottish Public Pensions Agency. Working alongside the Facilities Management company, Mitie, we helped redistribute our high-quality office furniture from a client’s previous estate to the Scottish Public Pensions Agency’s offices in Galashiels.
Delivered across three carefully planned phases, the project was designed to minimise disruption while accommodating the needs of staff throughout the transition. Our installation teams cleared and prepared the Scottish Public Pensions Agency’s 20-year-old workspace, coordinating the efficient removal and recycling of existing furniture. To streamline the process and reduce environmental impact, we positioned several 40-yard metal and wood skips within the car park. This enabled the rapid dismantling and recycling of the existing desking systems, significantly reducing disruption on site while minimising the number of additional lorry movements required.
Move Management of Existing Furniture
The next phase of the project involved dismantling and relocating 240 Pico back-to-back workstations to the Scottish Public Pensions Agency. This included the careful removal, transportation and reinstallation of desking, screens, IT equipment and monitor arms. Each workstation featured two monitor arms, a central screen and integrated electrics running from floor boxes to cable trays, all of which required detailed coordination during installation.
We also managed the reinstallation of office furniture previously stored at our Scottish storage facilities, including office lockers and a Pledge Office Chairs Rendezvous collaboration table with matching stools from an earlier 2018 project. Every item was thoroughly checked, cleaned, transported and reinstalled to ensure it met the required standard before returning to use. Despite the complexity and number of moving parts involved, the project was delivered on schedule and completed without snagging issues.
This project is an excellent example of the circular economy in action, extending the lifecycle of existing furniture, redistributing valuable resources across government departments, and delivering both environmental and financial benefits.
