The University of Chester’s Thornton Science Park is now a major research and innovation hub offering a unique blend of industry, innovation and academia. Flexiform Business Furniture was selected to install a range of breakout furniture and desking in staff offices. The newly refurbished buildings have been designed to offer offices, meeting and training rooms, flexible spaces, communal laboratories, and break out and rest areas for new startups and SME businesses. The brief required the interior and furniture had to have a modern feel, with a corporate level of finish, with a higher specification in the reception areas than the offices. The offices needed to be flexible and versatile to allow new layouts in the future.

CCS Office Furniture Installation

Flexiform were selected to provide office furniture for all offices within Building 90 and complied with the CCS specification agreement RM 1501. Flexiform presented designs for the soft furniture required within the reception area and had to illustrate that both CCS and reception furniture were fit for purpose and offered value for money to fulfil the University’s brief. We also won lots one and two for installation in March.

Within the offices, Pico single desks, which were configured in both back-to-back and side-to-side arrangements. Constructed from single desks, the desks can be quickly reconfigured at any time as the Universities requirements change. All the offices and breakout areas were designed using our in-house Space Planning department, creating multiple options for consideration.

Flexiform worked closely with the University to deliver and design practical solutions suitable for our spatial environments.

The whole process was exceptional, and this was down to a great team effort by everyone involved at Flexiform. The installation demonstrated quality products, coordination pre and post-installation, and effective communication from inception through to completion.
