Yusen Logistics UK Offices


Flexiform has completed the Category B office fit-out for Yusen Logistics UK’s new sustainable distribution centre in Northampton. As a global logistics and supply chain company, Yusen Logistics UK sought to furnish its newly built facility with high-quality furniture that combined functionality with visual appeal. A key priority was to source items made from sustainable or recyclable materials, reflecting the company’s strong environmental values.

Yusen Logistics UK selected Flexiform based on four key criteria: high-quality office furniture, a brand-consistent office design, professionalism and reliability, and the best possible value for money. The interior design was required to reflect Yusen Logistics’ brand identity, using its distinctive orange and blue palette to create a space that instantly felt like a Yusen Logistics site. This approach reinforced brand consistency and aligned with the company’s corporate design standards. Flexiform met all these objectives, and Yusen Logistics UK is confident that the partnership has successfully delivered on every goal.

Office café design and furniture fitout

Supporting Staff Wellbeing.

Creating a welcoming and comfortable workspace to support employee wellbeing was just as important to Yusen Logistics as sourcing sustainable furniture. This goal was achieved through thoughtful design, focusing on proven office design principles: comfort, acoustics, biophilia, and breakout spaces. Soft furnishings were prioritised throughout the installation, including modular office sofas, café booths, and upholstered Miss chairs and stools to maximise comfort. Ventilo task chairs were chosen to promote movement throughout the day and allow users to adjust the chair to their individual needs. For meeting rooms, Cyla mesh-back cantilever chairs were selected to provide breathable support during longer sessions. To improve acoustics and minimise distractions, wall-mounted and suspended acoustic panels and baffles were installed across the workspace.

Biophilic design elements were incorporated throughout the office. Plants were placed in storage-top planters on Freestor tambour units and in freestanding Flora office planters to divide spaces and enhance privacy. Embracing biophilic principles, the innate human need to connect with nature, helps staff feel more relaxed and comfortable. This connection was further strengthened with the addition of an outdoor seating area, providing employees with access to daylight and fresh air to support their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.

Reception Counter and Desk

Office Furniture Specification

Furniture selection for the project was primarily design-led, with functionality and value also playing key roles. Flexiform provided Yusen Logistics UK’s project management team with a range of fabric, colour, and finish samples to review in person. Sample office furniture was also delivered to the site for testing and feedback, which proved instrumental in finalising selections and ensuring full team buy-in.

Sustainability was a central consideration throughout. Yusen Logistics UK sought a supplier whose values aligned with their environmental goals and who could support future furniture requirements across their UK sites. By choosing a UK-based office furniture manufacturer, they significantly reduced or eliminated air miles within their supply chain. Flexiform’s zero-waste-to-landfill policy, recycling 95% of materials and converting the remaining 5% into renewable energy, perfectly aligned with Yusen Logistics sustainability criteria.

All Flexiform office furniture is made to order at our Yorkshire factory, ensuring only the required items are produced and waste is minimised. This approach is further enhanced by the ability for clients to test showroom pieces before installation, reducing the risk of disappointment at installation, and providing confidence in both design and quality.

Project Successes

This office fitout incorporated a wide range of workspaces designed to accommodate everyone, from management and office staff to warehouse teams and drivers. With different needs and requirements, Flexiform created a cohesive workspace that meets Yusen Logistics’s goals, offering excellent value for money alongside design quality, functionality, and long-term durability. Flexiform is incredibly proud to have partnered with Yusen Logistics UK’s project management team to bring their new facilities to life. The success of the project was built on clear, consistent communication and close collaboration between both teams, values that reflect our commitment as a UK manufacturer and fit-out specialist.
