Furniture Manufacture
Working in partnership with Morgan Sindall, Flexiform manufactured, supplied and installed office furniture for the University of Leeds Business School refurbishment, alongside the relocation and integration of existing furniture. Marking our eighth collaborative project with Morgan Sindall and the University of Leeds, we are proud to continue supporting the transformation of learning and working environments across the campus.
For the Business School refurbishment, we supplied a carefully selected range of breakout, meeting and collaborative furniture, designed to complement the existing interiors through coordinated colourways and finishes. Combined with the professional cleaning and refurbishment of the existing furniture, the result was a seamless blend of new and existing products, creating a fresh, contemporary environment while maximising the value and longevity of existing assets.
Collaboration Furniture
To support the architect’s vision, Flexiform supplied a range of collaborative furniture solutions designed to create a dynamic, flexible and inspiring learning environment. To maximise the available space, we installed our pedestal-base tables alongside existing perimeter banquette seating, while simple Additions tables were paired with existing tub chairs to create high-capacity collaborative workspaces.
To provide more private areas for focused working and informal meetings, we also installed enclosed four-person office pods. Each pod was fully equipped with integrated power charging, a central table, built-in seating and PIR lighting, with additional manifestations applied to enhance user privacy.
Alongside the main collaborative areas, more traditional meeting rooms were furnished with Additions 2 meeting tables and Pledge Office Chairs Kind cantilever meeting chairs, creating functional and professional spaces for formal meetings and presentations.
Breakout Furniture
Within the breakout areas, we supplied a range of two-seater office sofas and coffee tables, and Connection Plenti bar-height tables with stools for dining, informal interaction, and relaxation. Existing modular sofas, cushions and wingback armchairs were also carefully relocated and incorporated into the new layout, creating a variety of breakout settings, from intimate one-to-one spaces and relaxed dining areas to larger collaborative zones.
To help define and soften the open-plan environment, additional FlexiGrid shelving and bookcases were introduced to create subtle visual divisions throughout the space. Combined with the architect’s thoughtful use of varied flooring finishes and feature rugs, the result is a cohesive environment with a natural flow, strong visual identity and welcoming atmosphere.
Bespoke Office Furniture
As part of the project, Flexiform supplied a range of bespoke furniture solutions tailored to the architect’s vision and the specific requirements of the space. As a manufacturer, we were able to adapt our standard ventilated metal locker range to incorporate wood mfc doors, creating a warmer and more refined aesthetic. Working closely with Morgan Sindall, the lockers were recessed into bespoke wall cavities alongside feature nook seating, giving the appearance and quality of a fully integrated joinery installation.
We also designed and manufactured bespoke general waste and recycling units to the architect’s exact specification. Constructed using marine plywood deck board with durable metal wipe-clean ring drop holes and integrated locking systems, the units combined practicality with a high-quality finish. The success of the design has since led to its implementation across a number of other projects throughout the campus.
The project has been a great success, transforming the Business School through a considered blend of new and re-used furniture to create modern, flexible breakout and meeting spaces. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with Morgan Sindall and the University of Leeds on future campus developments.
